Bach Plus Two

Three masters of their art play Bach in a unique style...

Bach Plus Two was formed in 2004 when three musicians of eminence in their own particular fields came together to enjoy playing the sublime music of Bach, and to share that enjoyment of their slightly different approach with a wider and discerning audience.

Their programme embraces familiar favourites such as the Air on a G String, the C Major Prelude and the Italian Concerto, as well as the wonderful variety of the English Suites, all enhanced by the added dimension of percussion and bass.

Shelley Katz trained at the Julliard School of Music in New York, and has over the last twenty years established a reputation as a solo keyboard recitalist and accompanist across the world.

Tristan Fry is a renowned percussionist who has worked with everybody from Frank Sinatra to the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, and was a member of the 1980's group SKY.

Alastair Hume has come back to bass-playing after a twenty-five year career with The King's Singers as one of its co-founders.

Shelley plays Bach's piano music exactly as written, and the combination of his enthusiasm and virtuosity, Tristan's exquisitely musical percussion and Alastair's driving bass makes for an evening of infectious energy and exuberance in the company of one of the world's greatest composers.
